Saturday

I "led" Saturday's Gray Butte/Smith Rock ride. Or rather, was chosen to lead it because I had ridden it once before. Here's a panorama to the west from the top of the first big climb, including the Sisters, "Mr. Jefferson" and numerous other volcanoes:

Not really visible in this pic, but to the naked eye Black Butte was also clearly visible with Green Ridge extending off to the right. We looked down at it and said, "hey, that's where the other BC riders are." Little did we know.

Regroup point on the Crooked River at the base of Smith Rock:

Joel's checking out the view after hauling ourselves up Thigh Burna Road:

Fifth flat of the day. At least Bert had a nice view back down over Smith Rock as he changed his. His GF had a flat in the middle of Giardia Canyon, after riding through the cowpies for which it is named. Eeew.

The Three Sisters:

Wade of Vulture Cycles shows off his long pink tube while Dave shows off some Shwag:

Nice free hat in the foreground, yet another free "Top Tubes" calendar in the background. I can say this is the first (and probably last) time I've ever seen guys peering over women's shoulders to look at pictures of naked guys. If you were not at BC and do not understand this, believe me it's better that way.

Wade's homebuilt cruiser. Despite the nuts 'n lube headset it handled very well as long as you didn't need to turn too sharp. Steel is real, but this thing isn't steel. It's plain ole IRON:

Sunday

Sunday morning dawns on camp:

Redhaze checking out Dave's highrider:

Inspecting the damage after Abe's impressive log jump:

Kyezle attempting to ride this freaky thing:

The Homocile ...

... and its resident:

OK, probably not a homo, but just look at him! If you dare. You do have to give him credit for attaching cleats to his shoes.

The full contestant lineup. White Boy's pissed here after learning he came in 5th:

First and last place promenade. Page is chasing after the woman who is stealing daddy's bike:

Nice view of Black Butt(e):
